The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) was founded in 1969 with the objective of providing and developing high-quality education and training for people in the wine and spirits industry. The trust has since grown to become an international awarding body and provides the industry standard for formal qualifications in wines and spirits.
Courses range from the introductory Level 1 Award in Wines to the advanced and comprehensive Level 4 Diploma and covers subjects including wine, spirits, wine service and most recently, Sake. All qualification courses are included within the Qualifications and Curriculum Framework (QCF) and the WSET are regulated by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (OfQual).
WSET training courses have been devised and developed primarily for the retail and hospitality sectors of the wine and spirits trade but have also proven to be of interest to enthusiasts wishing to enhance their own knowledge as a leisure activity.
For more information on the WSET and its training courses please visit their website at www.wsetglobal.com.
Whilst the WSET is based in London, the provision of their training courses internationally and regionally in the UK is achieved through a network of Approved Programme Providers (APPs). Case Studies Wine School (CSWS), is an independent wine and spirits based training organisation and a registered APP. The school offers all courses up to and including the Level 3 Award in Wines.
